Luis is an engineer with over 18 years of experience in, mining engineering, geostatistics, advanced quantitative risk analysis, financial and economic and project evaluation based decision making analysis.
Luis holds a Doctorate in Minerals Economics and Finance – “Strategic open pit mine project evaluation using real options and allied econometrics”. He also holds a Master Diploma and Master of Science in open pit mine plan and design under ore resource uncertainty. He has published and presented numerous papers on project evaluation, optimisation, strategic risk management and real options in mining in Australia, Chile, Peru, Norway, Mongolia, Russia, and Philippine.
Luis is an innovative and creative strategist (thinker and doer) with a passion for creating value based on the implementation of reliable & practical strategies. His work extends across a vast range of commodities including precious metals, base metals, iron ore, coal, and platinum group elements.
Luis is an AusIMM member.
Juan A. Velasco
Associated Principal Mining Engineer
Juan has over 15 years of experience in mine planning, design and business development. His expertise includes design optimization and pits using Minesight – M821, Whittle, Blasor, Vulcan, Datamine, NPV Scheduler.
His experience in mining covers major projects development such as Long-term and Short-Term Planning, open pit ore control, equipment mine selection and cost analysis, in-pit crushing Conveying and Spreading (IPCCS) for Waste Handling Material including technical and economic evaluation
Senior Mining Engineer Associate
Alan is an experienced Mining Engineer with Statuary and Masters Degree
Alan worked at multiple open cut operations of Coal and Iron ore mines.
For the previous six year he worked as Strategic Mine Planning Engineer and he managed and initiated various feasibility, development and expansion projects.
Senior Business Analyst
With degrees in Science, Commerce and Management, Cris has a complex array of knowledge, spanning many fields, and is able to bring all these resources together as a consultant for the mining industry.
A deep understanding of economic modelling, econometrics, exposure to the mining industry, combined with an exceptional knowledge of information systems and technology, offers a set of skills ideal for adding value to large and complex projects and implementations.
Extensive teaching experience facilitates an easy interaction with clients and well developed presentation skills.
Cris is a member of the Australian Computer Society, has multiple Microsoft industry certifications and he is a PRINCE2 Certified Practitioner.
Ye Alex Tian
Graduate Algorithm Engineer
Ye Tian (Alex) has a Master degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Distinction from Imperial College London, UK, and is now a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Queensland.
Ye has a solid background in mathematical modelling of complex systems and sound analytical skills. He has good interpersonal skills, developed through years of tutoring experience.
Ye is now working at ROMPEV on commodity price modelling and prediction and mine planning.
Graduate Research Assistant
Hanxiao (Han) has well established Matlab modelling skills, strong analytical skills, demonstrated proficiency programimg in Matlab, R, Python and C. With various experience in energy industry, including energy market analysis and energy consulting, Hanxiao has a sound understanding of the industry, and strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills.
Mineral Price Forecast Modelling is the current research and development project that Hanxiao has been working on.
Hanxiao is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and Vice-Chair of IEEE Power and Energy Society Student Chapter at University of Queensland.
Dr Salih Ramazan
Mining Engineer Associate
Dr Ramazan is creative professional with over 13 years of broad-based mining industry expertise in areas of financial valuations (mining projects for acquisition and feasibility studies), advanced engineering (designs, planning and production scheduling for mining companies), mathematical modelling (application and development of efficient operations research techniques based on linear/integer programming), network flow and stochastic programming optimisation models, geologic modeling.
Areas of expertise and skills include: • Financial valuation of mining projects for acquisition, feasibility studies, forecasts and budgets • Project management, cost – benefit analysis and risk quantification/classification • Developing tools using high level programming lamnguages (Visual Basic,VBA and C++) • Geology (Geostatistics): resource modelling analysis and processes on the model • Operations research: linear programming, network flow and stochastic integer programming • Strategic planning an value optimisation for mining companies • Other finance background including corporate finance, derivative securities, portfolio management, econometrics, bank management, lending, and financial institutions and markets

Maksud has more than a decade of experience in decision support systems, optimisation and software engineering with large enterprises, such as ABB and Schneider Electric.
He has analysed and improved the supply chains of large mining and manufacturing companies across Australia. He is highly experienced in planning, scheduling, logistics and distribution systems analysis, integration and business process design and has built solutions which increase profit and customer satisfaction while ensuring safety and regulatory standards are upheld.
He’s created novel algorithms which he has applied to a variety of business functions and industries. In the 2004 International Informatics Olympiad (an algorithmics contest), he won the Bronze Medal.
